:: Person of the Year
The pianist Daniel Wnukowski was chosen as Person of the Year on the radio channel 'Magazyn Polski' broadcasted from Windsor.
Wnukowski has studied in Poland the last two year at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw under the direction of Piotr Paleczny and has received worldwide recognition for his interpretations of Chopin's music which was somewhat displayed during his participation at this year's International Chopin competition in Warsaw, Poland, where aside from having caught a bad flu he managed to reach the 2nd stage.
"Daniel was a favorite on our radio station and clearly deserved to be awarded Person of the Year" says Arleta Sziler who runs the channel 'Magazyn Polski'. We had the chance to meet him personally backstage after a successful concert with the Windsor Symphony which was long sold-out. In fact, the symphony had to sell extra tickets to invite guests to the rehearsal. He received a standing ovation and played Chopin's 'Heroic Polonaise' as an encore just as beautifully as he did at the competition. The piano was specially sent by Yamaha for this event which is only done for musicians of such stature.
The Polish weekly has been tracking Daniel's progress for years now. With each concert he has shown more and more maturity technically as well as artistically and noone is surprised that he has reached such a prominent status among young pianists in the world today.
For anyone who could not hear Wnukowski perform we have good news. On Friday, February 9th, at 7pm, Daniel Wnukowski will present a 70 minute solo recital on 89.9 FM.
