Letter from Jacques Leiser

Biography | Reviews | Honorable Letters | Jacques Leiser

"I am writing in support of and to recommend Daniel Wnukowski.

I had the opportunity of hearing Daniel at a number of concerts in Europe where he resided during the past year and I was most impressed to hear such a rare and spectacular talent. Daniel is not only a virtuoso in the grand style, but he is also a true musician and poet of the keyboard. He is one of the few young pianists I have heard in the past decades who plays with great passion and individuality.

Daniel also has a winning personality. He is extremely brilliant and at the same time, modest and personable.

With regard to my background, I used to work for EMI Records International in Milan, Paris and London and New York during the mid-fifties and early sixties and 1 had a considerable amount of experience in talent scouting and signing up artists such as Maurizio Pollini (Chopin Competition, Warsaw, 1960) as well as Sviatoslav Richter (Helsinki, 1960), having arranged his first recording in the West for EMl at Abbey Road Studios in London and later, Krystian Zimerman (Chopin Competition Warsaw, 1975).

As you probably know, I have represented and collaborated with some of the world's great concert pianists during the past four decades, including keyboard giants Sviatoslav Richter, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Claudio Arrau, Lazar Berman, Julius Katchen, Annie Fischer, Dame Moura Lympany, Aldo Ciccolini, Georges Cziffra as well as Maurizio Pollini, Krystian Zimerman, among others.

I am pleased to recommend Daniel Wnukowski without any reservations. I think he has a great international career ahead of him and is destined to become one of the important pianists of his generation.

Sincerely,

Jacques Leiser
