“He holds not only a prodigious facility but the entire audience was mesmerized by his stage presence.” Polonia Magazine “This [performance] was something entirely different than anything we had heard before – what an astounding virtuoso! The concert ended like we expected – with a standing ovation." The Warsaw Voice DANIEL WNUKOWSKIThe Canadian-born piano virtuoso Daniel Wnukowski, pronounced (‘Vnoo-koff-skee') , invariably amazes audiences from many parts of the globe as reports from audiences and critics have been unanimous in their praise for Wnukowski's comprehensive musicianship, pristine technical command, and interpretive understanding. At age 14, he performed at the Polish Embassy for government diplomats and officials in Ottawa, Canada , becoming the youngest pianist to ever perform at the Embassy. In 1997, in remembrance of the outbreak of World War II, he performed a recital at the National Theatre in Warsaw , Poland in front of an audience of over 2,000 people, which was broadcasted internationally on European television. Shortly thereafter and together with his teacher at the time, Piotr Paleczny, he was heard in recital at the Living Arts Center Concert Hall, in Toronto, Canada . This was officially proclaimed by UNESCO as the Canadian inauguration of the “ International Year of Chopin Celebration.” In 2001, his all-Chopin recital was recorded live by Radio-Canada in Ottawa for broadcast on Radio-Canada French radio stations. In 2003, Mr. Wnukowski completed his studies at the Peabody Institute of Baltimore under the guidance of Leon Fleisher. In 2007, he was one of seven pianists accepted into the International Piano Academy in Lake Como where he had the opportunity to work with renowned pedagogues such as Dmitri Bashkirov, Claude Frank and Menahem Pressler among others. Born in Canada, Daniel Wnukowski was born with a natural talent and a musical destiny to fulfill. At age 3 and a half, he showed strong fascination for a grand piano made completely out of glass in a music store and begged his parents to begin taking piano lessons. By age 5, he was already enrolled in the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and by age 6, had composed a number of classical pieces for piano. At age 15, he graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music earning his ARCT diploma with a mark of 95. Mr. Wnukowski is no stranger to competition victories: he won his first competition having to stand while performing because he couldn't reach the pedals! At the XIV Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw , critics singled him out for his idiomatic and compelling readings of Chopin's music. He is also the winner of the National Chopin Piano Competition in Poland, for which he was awarded a government grant and many concerts throughout Europe. In addition, he is a laureate of the XI International Chopin Competition in Szafarnia, Poland . Daniel Wnukowski has performed throughout Europe and North America in many prestigious concert halls. Among these the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Poland, the Concertgebouw Music Hall in Amsterdam, Holland, the Salle Pleyel in Paris, France, and the Stadt Casino in Basel, Switzerland.
